Dinagat Island Road Network is included in the P29.1 billion three-year budget for Mindanao infra project.
The government will need P29 billion to realize its ambitious super region concept in Mindanao for the next three years, according to Presidential Adviser for Mindanao Jesus Dureza.
Dureza said these infrastructure development projects would "propel the competitiveness of the island battered by decades-old secessionist problems."
"The super region strategy will play a key role in ensuring that despite the pervading issues and challenges, efforts to address Mindanao's development imperatives are accelerated," the presidential adviser said.

HOMETOWN ROADS, BRIDGES FOR DINAGAT ISLAND, SURIGAO
Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, July 19, 1999 - For the very first time,
the pristine island of Dinagat will finally get its first government-built
roads and bridges to make its natural resources and natural tourist spots
such as white beaches, waterfalls, and hot springs, will finally have its
first real roads and bridges accessible and profitable.
Dinagat Island, three and a half hours from Surigao City by pumpboat, is
rich in mineral resources like chromite, gold, nickeliferous laterite,
limestone and siliceous sand, aside from being an excellent fishing ground.
It was visited for the first time by a Regional Director of the Department
of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Region XIII Director Robert Lala conducted an ocular inspection on the
island to assess the actual situation, in line with the Estrada
administration's thrust for countryside development and poverty alleviation
and its aim in bringing the government closer to the people.
Director Lala and his engineering staff initially met and with Loreto Mayor
Andres Ladaga on the pressing needs and problems in Loreto town, one of the
island's seven municipalities. The island does not have permanent bridges
and concrete roads and has been making do with timber bridges and narrow
dirt roads.
District Engineer Romeo Abao of the Surigao del Norte Engineering District
reported that the amount of P23 million was initially allocated for the
construction of the Phase I of the proposed Circumferential Road that will
connect all the seven municipalities of the island.
