News: Solar Power to Address Mindanao Shortage

CAGAYAN DE ORO -- Solar power plants can provide the fastest source of power in Mindanao. That is, if plans push through for its generation among the island’s larger distribution utilities.
In a media presentation on Sept. 14, Cecilio U. Sumaoy, senior manager of the Cagayan Electric Power & Light Co. (Cepalco) system operations department, cited the inherent advantages of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants over thermal and other plants of the same capacity.

State of the Art Municipal Hall of Libjo

Libjo is really proud to present its newly built 2-storey municipal hall with a recreation hall on its rooftop. Its inauguration was done today at 11:30am, February 28, 2011. Meanwhile, a consultative meeting about the upcoming 51st Araw ng Libjo celebration requested by Libjo Mayor Maria Fe Borja- Llamera was held on the same day. Represented by all Department heads, SB Members, Punong Barangays, GO's, NGO's, DEP-ED and Religious Leaders, it was agreed that the said affair will be graced by hired Acrobats, Inter-agency Volleyball tournament and an Open - Battle of the Band. mj

News: Missing Boat With 5 Americans Found in Philippines

The Philippine coast guard on Sunday found a missing US sailboat off a southern island, with its five American passengers safe on board.

The 11.5-metre boat left Guam on January 6 en route to the central Philippine city of Cebu when it went missing.

Coast guard spokesman Commander Armand Balilo said the boat was spotted off the southern island of Dinagat, west of its final destination.

He said contact had been made and a rescue vessel was on the way.

Balilo said four men and one woman were spotted safe inside.

Relatives of the passengers reported the sailboat missing after it failed to reach Cebu by the expected date of January 16. More...from Libjolive.com
