I can still remember a post on this site back in April 2007 regarding a P100 million worth of road projects.

It is now April 2008, and still the plan is a plan. Are you guys still hopeful of these things to happen? or it is just a politician's promise....

I am still a Filipino, what I can suggest for the Filipinos that is still in the Philippines is: IF YOU CAN COME OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND NEVER COME BACK OR BE BACK JUST TO VISIT, DO IT. It is time to wake up that is the only way to make YOUR dream to come true.

Anonymous said...

oh my! rex, that's the worst suggestion that i had ever heard or read from you. are you giving up?

Anonymous said...

I dont know if that's right nong jig2.It's easier said than done! Unsaon na lamang ang dili maka larga, MAGPAKAMATAY RAKAN? Paita sa mga manghud nako sa Libjo.

Anonymous said...

you are right rex. pila na man ang gasolina dinhi? nihit na bugas. gibuang ra ta sa mga politiko. ug naa jod chance mang-gawas ta. ug naay chance ako balikon. ug ato mga igsoon dili makalarga so dako tag higayon nga matabangan nato sila. after a year nakaila na man ko sa administrator ani nga blog. siya mismo mibiya sa pilipinas bisan nindot iya work dinhi tungod kay mas nakakita siyag mas maayo nga ugma ug molangyaw sa lain nasud. mao na reality. reality sad nga dili tanan makalarga. so ako balikon, ug naay chance. ug nindot pa ang kinabuhi sa mga nurses dinhi dili unta sila mangadto sa amerika.

going to other country for greener pasture as they say is the best option left for filipinos inorder to prosper. if the govt has something to offer for nurses, why there's a big exodus happening. IT professionals? even teachers. our skilled workers going to the middle east to work, engrs.,other college grads go to taiwan to work as production workers. what's going on? rex's suggestion is hard to swallow to people who has pride and who refuse to know the reality nowadays. if you have the chance do it.
to anonymous 8:11pm - did you know that those who worked abroad helps our economy every time they send dollars in. that's why the govt consider them heroes of our time. you're not giving up because of them actually. pls. be informed.
to anonymous 11:00 pm - you took the suggestion out of context or not even consider the good side of it. not all people "makalarga" but if there's one in the family who can, then the rest will benifit of it. magpakamatay is not good but what is worst is the present situation is slowly killing us FILIPINOS. ask yourself, how much is the gasoline now? why is it that there's a rice shortage happening? and the last is: do the politicians experience what most of us experience today?
not all have the chance to LARGA, but if can do it.

Anonymous said...

mr administrator can you make a survey where we can vote to see how many wants to go to other country to work/live and who wants just stay here? i mean kung meron tsansa ba.

working abroad is one of the firsts programs of the new governor for the dinagatnons. helping us to get a job abroad. anonymous 8:11 is the governor also giving up?
well those who have given up has good houses, cars, are able to send the kids to college. not only their kids but also the pamangkins. has the capacity to help their parents and relatives. good food in the table, travel a lot. good clothing and money of course. i think i'll also give up.
our fellow libjoanons who are in the lands of milk and honey know what i mean and i understand it too. i'm here in cebu working 6 days a week (also my wife) and still living in an apt. sometimes i'll just walk to save pamasahe. ug muoli ko sa ato unsay may matrabaho? mismo mga suweldado sa ato uyon ani ako gipanulti. pirte na ka lisod. sauna kada pista uli. karon bahalag mingaw antoson na lamang. mahal na pliti barko.

I WAS THERE. tinuod, its easier said than done.

hmmm... nice comments guys but i think it really depends on every individual. its a known fact that in the Phils. richer are getting richer and poor are getting poorest not poorer, they go directly of being the poorest people. we should also understand that being far away from our family, friends and relatives is a very big sacrifice that we OFW do just to have the "greener pasture" that we want. in life there is always hope, if you think your hope is in the Phils. then believe it but if you think its outside the country then pursue it...
i just really hope that 1 day Phils. wil rise up from having a bad politics and learn to do things for the good of everyone not only for the few.
and praying that Dinagat as a new province can do there best potentials to be a competitive and progressive province 1 day and Libjo will be 1 of the many town that can rise up and be known for its best of everything that it can offer to its townspeople and even people all over the world.. :)))
i have a dream... and i hope 1 day this dream will come true.

the first posting is a suggestion. it's up to us to decide or know if it's realistic. we can investigate it in our own small ways. look at those people you know and try to compare their status now. my friend told me that in their town somewhere in leyte, dako gani na bayay abroad an tag-ija. my co-worker also once told me that he will never go back to the middle east. lisod kuno. we can not agree on this topic. anybody can speak based on his/her experience. i respect both sides but not to those who disagree just because they disagree. you have to support your argument.

Anonymous said...

hammer, staying in the phil is not swallowing his/her own pride. a lot of reasons why people dont leave. as what 5:12pm said, its easier said than done.

to rex, its not the only way to make your dreams come true.

im not against going abroad, my brother, cousins and friends are there. they are even richer than any one in our libjo that i know of. dili sa pang hambog. all they said, they have financial security, nothing more.

Anonymous said...

well rex, it depends on what dream are you dreaming. if your dream is to surge your finance then going abroad might be an option but i dont think it's the only option, YOU ARE WRONG, "YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY WRONG!". on the other hand, if your dream is to establish a happy & lasting family ties, going abroad might not be an option, "i use might please take note!".

if given a chance, just like you rex, i might consider leaving pinas and grab some job abroad. most likely this will help my family in terms of, you know finance. however for me doing this for "good", is rejecting our own country. to tell you rex, i cannot repudiate my country as i cannot repudiate my family.

its true that life in pinas is getting harder, but i dont think that a cynical pinoy is an option to alleviate this! if you are a professional pinoy right now who consider leaving abroad, you may do so but please come back because your country need you! who else do you think can best help pinas? of course you & probably me!

"What is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men do nothing", Edmund Burke.

rex i dont know you that much, but i assume you're a good person. however if you do nothing, i would say this is the best way for the corrupt people (if you believe there's any) in libjo triuphs. they said, "if you can't stand the heat, stay away from the kitchen". well, i dont think this idea helps!

please reconsider your stand rex!

actually i'm out from the country twice a year because of my job. and i have offers from our head office in detroit (i work at lear corp.) to work there. anytime i want i can. but i still love to travel so theres no rush. daghan filipino sa lear grabe kadako ang deperensya sa suweldo, same position sa mga naa sa mepza sa lapu-lapu. so for me sayang nga naa potential to earm more labi na smart ang pinoy. my aunts are public school teachers in dinagat island, louy kaayo. i met a filipina who works in detroit as teacher (from cebu city central), she's earning 5 grand. an engineer in the u.s. earns $35 to $45/hr. a nurse earns $25 to $35/hr. let's be practical even though money is not everything but helps more than a lot. pero ang important point nako nga daghan potential ang filipino workers not only financial but also professional advancement nga lisod na makit-an sa pinas. yes lyn i also have dreams for the country but one says, WHEN WE DREAM LET'S BE REALISTIC. when i was in college i dream for factories in surigao so i can go home and work close to my parents. and then i realize i won't happen in my lifetime. i dream of working in NAPOCOR pero wa man koy ninong. i dreamed of clean elections but it ain't gonna happen in my lifetime. i dream of good hospital in libjo but one politician's move (the local govt code that localize hospital funding) ruined it. so i decided to wake up. i hope frustrations are over. NOW I'M DREAMING WITH MY EYES OPEN.

to you hammer:
you said, NOW I'M DREAMING WITH MY EYES OPEN, so what's this dream?

I am not from Dinagat province nor lives in libjo but I love to navigate your website as I find the contributors have unique and interesting entries. While reading your comments, I respect you all. We have all different perceptions in life but once you’re happy of what you are then so be it. In every Country regardless develop or otherwise, there have always been the ups and downs. To me, I’d rather be in a Country that I can grow SPIRITUALLY and MATERIALLY. Here or abroad it doesn’t really matter. But I have to follow my DREAMS, might not meant for me but hey…i tried it. Now, I am settled in the western world and luckily in and out to the Countries I want to see. I guess that’s my destiny. Just find your true self as everything will follow through…trust GOD.

well, its good that your governor has plans of sending her poeple abroad. may i ask how many had left the "island" thru that project? island lang sa, dili pa pinas.
why are there so many people in your island with good houses, cars etc. pero wala mag abroad?

Anonymous said...

what i mean is be realistic with your dreams and follow it wherever it is possible. example: naa man duha ka libjoanon who are doctors (MD). asa man sila ron? (in fairness sa usa, mi serve sija sa ato hospital before nangita ug kaajohan). if the local hospital has something to offer (not only financial) mas moprefer siguro sila nga mo-serve sa ato. ganahan sila motabang pero way tambal available. ang ila potential nga modajaw sa masikiton limited. mga lider ngano dili man nato sila hatagan ug sakto nga armas aron moserbesyo? naa mga project for grandstanding ra. botica sa barangay? good. pero ngano dili man nato iagi sa mga health centers ugj hospital nga sila may motambal? dili lalim magdoktor uy pero the rest of their profession motambal ra ug hilanat na dili na maajo. mao nga molangyaw. dili ra kwarta kundi professional advancement sab. mga engr. ang mabilin ang dili nindot ug record sa pag-eskuyla kay ang mga bright mangita man jod nga ma-praktis ang nahuman. TAN-AWA ASA MAN TONG MGA BANGIITAN NGA MGA ENGINEERS NGA MAS NAHIBAWO UG UNSAY ENGINEERING? PUBLIC WORKS SECRETARY GENERAL ANG NAA SA PUWESTO. MAO NGA MANGLARGA ATO MGA PROFESSIONALS KAY DILI LEVEL ANG PAGPILI UG KINSAY DAWATON UG TRABAHO SA GOBYERNO. PALAKASAN ANG SESTIMA. NGANI UG MANGAPPLY KAG PULIS RON NGA PANAHON DILI KA MADAWAT UG WAY PADANGOG.

AHEM! nasaghiran na sab mi.hehehe. im really enjoying your comments guys.just arrived from a retreat, gimingaw ko sa libjolive.. well, we all have reasons why we left our beloved town. sakto mo tanan. again, we have REASONS!

-gib-

to hammer. yeah i know we have to open our eyes when we dream to make it more realistic. but as what others say IT REALLY DEPENDS ON YOUR PRIORITY AND WHERE YOUR HEARTS IS. yeah money can help a lot but it doesnt mean that its the only way to make people happy and contented. i know im happy that i get my dream of workin outside Phils. but you know still my heart stayed in the Phils. because thats were my roots are... i would have been more happier if i work where i can see my family as often as i can. it would have been more fun that in every good things that happen to me theyre just around to share it with me. but because i want to pursue my dream of workin abroad so here i am in exchange of not being with my family and friends that i know my entire life.
but i know that in this world we cant have everything we want and with that we have to make decisions.
so you cant really say that the only hope for filipino is to go outside the country... thats a very bitter attitude.
wherever we are and whatever we do its all in our hearts.. no matter how we say we have to be practical in life but at the end of the day try to question yourself AM I HAPPY ON WHAT I AM DOING? IS THIS WHAT I REALLY WANT TO DO?
i know how bad and worst the situation is in the Phils. with regards to politics and economy but i dont believe that theres really no hope for people there to prosper... thats a lie because
prosperity and success is not only defined by position and monetary factors but its the whole package of every individual.....
so to all filipinos and libjoanons MABUHAY tayong lahat!

Anonymous said...

lyn you're right in some ways. question: if there are some other ways to prosper other than going abroad then why are you doing it?
it is because of all those possible solutions to prosper, going abroad is on top of the list in our time here in the philippines. it has been in our national newspapers late last year that 3 OUT OF 5 FILIPINOS WANT TO WORK AND LIVE ABROAD. it does not mean that they don't love the philippines anymore. HOME SWEET HOME FOREVER! but for the majority is the bright future for the family. of course there are sacrifices in fact daghan naa sa gawas nga instead mobaksyon ipadala na lamang ang para plite sa pamilya. SACRIFICE. BUT BY DOING THAT THOSE PEOPLE FEEL GOOD BECAUSE THE PRIORITY IS FOR THE FAMILY. TUITION, BUGAS, BAYAD SA MGA BILLS, ETC.
another difference between dinhi ug sa gawas labi na sa amerika. sa ato public employee gani like police bawal mag second job. MOONLIGHTING IS BAD. instead extra income (honest) dili puwede. mao corrupt na noun. sa US, way problema. inig gawas sa trabaho puwede mag second job. police gikan duty, magpart-time ug sort ug suwat sa post office. teacher after work, mag-part-time sa grocery store. ingon ana kadako ang opportunities lyn. my friend who is in canada have a mowing business on weekends aside from his regular job. iasa ang kwarta? ipadala sa pilipinas. so what wrong of working abroad if the money will go to our country.
ug supak ta to work abroad and then we're working abroad that's another type of HYPOCRISY.

Anonymous said...

hammer to answer your question: because i want to see other part of the world and because i dream to work abroad...
im here because i want to live my dream although i know from the very start that it means leaving my family and all the things i love back home.
the only thing that i really disagree with you is that you put Phils. in a way that everybody should leave there because its a hopeless place.
and your point of view is so negative and limited. maybe you can review your comments and youll see it too.
it doesnt mean that what happen to you applies to all. as what ive said we have our own PRIORITY, REASONS and DREAMS AND ETC AND ETC AND ETC....
wherever we wanna go, whatever we wanna believe we should pursue that because thats were we can prosper in every factor of our life... and we can maximize our talents and potentials. inside or outside the country...

Anonymous said...

8:56, i agree with you. hammer and rex' comments put the phil in a bad light. i am not against working abroad. as i said before, my brother and cousins are outside and they are doing good. me and my family has been to other countries for a vacation also.
but i never heard them speak against pinas as a country. they never said that they are not coming back.
it is financiallly rewarding, a dream come true to others, but HELL to others.
good day to all.

Anonymous said...

actually me and rex are just small dots in a country of more than 80 million people. even before we made comments our country is already in bad situation. i hope this is clear to you 8:56. during my last visit in detroit, friends old and new at work asked me a lot of things about the philippines. and we know that to tell a lie is a sin. so i answered their queries with truth. questions like, is your government corrupt? it your cities safe? one older guy even shared that he sent letter for his pen pal somewhere in manila and most of his letters did not arrive.
he's not sure if his pen pal lied or it was the truth. so he asked me about our postal service. so i told him what i know that there are thieves in our post offices.
now it's in the headlines again in the US that there are doctors here that is conniving with american retirees. they collect money even though there's no medical procedure made. how about the nursing board exam. hospitals in the US and recruiters knew it. the latest engineering board. the whole world knew it. rockefeller and Ford foundations (americans) gave money so we have our Internationa Rice Research Institute in Quezon City. What is happening to our rice supply now?
no, it's not because of hammer and rex.

hammer, when was your last visit here in the states? are they not using the net to send mails?
i may not like the system and the leaders in pinas right now but i have no regrets being a pinoy. can you name to us a country with a perfect government? if you think that the govt here is perfect, then you have not stayed here that long.
100% ill be coming home to pinas and leave there someday.

Anonymous said...

well there are reasons why my friend did not use email. he was planning to petition his girlfriend and letters are good evidence of their relationship. and what's the use of email if the other end don't have one?
and there's no perfect government. but you can classify them bad, worse and worst. some governments are too ridiculous no word can exactly describe. more than worst.
ours probably is on the extreme worst. you know why? if you are following the news, our senators are planning to change the form of gov't to federal type. they believe it's the answer to our present problems. it means our government at this time is not working well. our leaders are convinced there is a problem.
like most of my filipino friends in the states (and relatives too) loves to go back to the phils. to VISIT. the reason? because they still have families left. but for those whose families already joined them like in canada, u.s., australia, new zealand? going home is not their priority anymore. for contract workers they have no choice than going home after their contract expires. but why most of them go back abroad? simply because they know the difference.
like you i don't have regrets of being a pinoy. i have no choice in the first place and i cannot change my color and looks. filipinos in other countries are mostly admired as hard working people. THAT IS WHY FILIPINO WORKERS DESERVED SOMETHING. but at present THAT SOMETHING CAN'T BE FOUND IN THE PHILIPPINE SOIL. that is why labor groups still insist that the minimum wage is way below the amount a filipino worker deserve.

Anonymous said...

hammer i get your point crystal clear. and you dont have to give examples because we all know that... everyone knows that.
but its not enough reason to think that staying in the Phils. is such a bad idea and only going outside the country is our hope..
you have to remember that not everybody that goes outside were lucky enough to settle in a developed and open country.
think about those OFW that landed in the part of the middle east that were maltreated and abused, think about those OFW that were imprisoned because of false accusations...
maybe you forgot that not all OFW goes to the state.
and stop comparing the states to Phils. because theyre 2 big different country.. STATE IS DEVELOPED COUNTRY WHILE PHILS. BELONG TO THE THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.
youre comparing caviar to ginamos.
and you have to remember that part of what Phils. is today is because we are a remnant of a very chaotic colonization we had before and americans was part of it.
and how about those professionals that remains in the Phils. but they are happy to stay even if they have chance to work abroad. you know why? because thats what they want and they are happy and contented on what they have... they have their own reasons and priority in life.
you should try living in north america longer and you will know the flaws by yourself.
and one more thing im not supak working abroad my point is choose what you wanna do in life and go for it.... wherever it may be. maski sa binaliw pa imo gusto if thats what you want nobody has the right to stop you not unless somebody owns binaliw now. :))
VIVA PILIPINAS!

im with you anonymous 8:54. its so funny that those guys in detroit still using postal mail while here in albor we're on email. i dont get the catch hammer, c'mon what the heck out there?

you said, going abroad is the best option left for filipinos. are you that desperate? do you really ponder it? i just dont know why you hammer & rex always equate success with working abroad. do you know the truth? really? because if you know, you must have an idea those folks there woking abroad that is in hell of situation. paswertihay ra japon na oi! sometimes you get lucky and sometimes not. you can just help it. maybe rex in anyway you're in good situation there, well you must be lucky. but it doesn't mean if you'd stayed here you were nowhere to go.

lately rex you said, its the only way then hammer also said, its the best way left for filipino. its somehow acceptable if you say its an "option" but "only way & best way" is totally ridiculous. i hope you would reconsider your stand!

by the way hammer & rex, you might not aware about this but US & pinas, in someway share same situation when it comes to politics. trail it out, its for you to discover. i dont know "nganong" believe mo kaayo sa US, i cant get it!

dili jod ta magdaug because we have different opinions on this. some based on reality, others based on garbo and sour graping.
to pinoy and lyn, today is LABOR DAY. watch the news and you can see the real story. demonstrations and rallies all over the philippines. a picture of DISTRUST AND DISAPPOINTMENTS of filipino workers. as i said before, "WHO DESERVE SOMETHING MORE". i believed that what they are asking is true because even our church leaders joined them with their cause. if the priests will say there is poverty and is worsening, i think they are credible than our elected leaders to do that. ONCE A BIG CELEBRATION HONORING THE FILIPINO WORKERS, LABOR DAY NOW IS THE TIME TO AIR THEIR ANGER, AND TELLING NOT ONLY THE WHOLE NATION BUT ALSO THE WHOLE WORLD THAT THE FILIPINO WORKER IS SUFFERING.

Anonymous said...

hi hammer. yah media often gives us a bad picture of our country whether it's a labor day or not. its not a question of whether we are in worst of situation or not but its how far we want to go from there to change our situation. and i dont think it's leaving our country helpless! its not a thing about pride although i still have that sense as a filipino regardless of how worse your impression maybe. its how logic works i guess! if every good filipino's priority is to leave its country, c'mon tell me what our country is like 10 to 20 years from now. if you've sensed the worse scenario in our country, you're probably a person pinas desperately need right now! so stay and in some way do your small part. it might not be significant in nature but i guess its better than nothing. i tell you hammer i am still optimistic that one day our nation can rise up! im looking for that great day. it may not happen in our lifetime but im sure it will when we unitedly pursue it.

we cannot deny that at present we are in the hell of situation. every filipino knew it! but you know what, everyday we're given a chance to change the course of our situation. it may not be an easy task but everybody can contribute it. every dream i guess is always possible and often times it takes only on how desperate we want it and how far we want to go from there.

long live philippines!

hammer la man jod modaug sa opinions because everyone has each own opinion on issues.
as ive said everything depends on every individual.
you have to look also on the news channel on the states everyday im telling you they have their own issues going on too...
even here in north america people are complaining because commodities are inreasing but the salary is the same.. i think that issue is not only in the PHils. in fact its all over the world...
i agree filipino workers deserves more thats why their fighting for their rights because thats what they believe their hope is in the Phils.
i may not be happy too with our political system now but it doesnt stop me from believing that there is hope in the Phils.
God bless to all Filipinos!

Pinoy I said THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE YOUR DREAM COME TRUE IS TO WAKE UP!!! I didn't say the only way to make your life easy and happy is leave the country!!! I won't reconsider my stand because I proved it myself that waking up and start working and putting into action all my plans or dreams whatever you call it make me what I am now!!! if you keep on dreaming without putting into action nothing will happen!! WAKE UP!!!

I dreamed that when I turn 40 I have already a house, drive a sports car in the weekend and have a nice job but IT TOOK ME 20 YEARS OF HARDWORK TO MAKE THAT DREAM COME TRUE!! I did not sit down and wait. When I was in Manila I worked 16 hours per day,7 days a week, when I was in Singapore I worked the same 16 hours a day 28 days a month. I am here in Australia its time to reap the fruit two of my targets are achieved!!! I DID WAKE UP. That's

Rex, your first comment was unacceptable, medyo libog pagka sulti but your point is clear to me.
" to make your dream come true is to wake up. to go out of the country and never come back or just visit, do it"

For me, medyo naay problema gamay. twice na ko sa mideast, nag apply na ug usab pagawas karon, pero wala gyud nako na maisip rex. still, pinas is my home and forever be my home. going abroad is a good option, but not the only option..

You have changed a lot rex. your arrogance when we were in highschool has multiplied. anyway, congrats for being rich already.

Sometimes, we make comments without reflecting first. its acceptable, everyboby makes mistakes. dawaton lang gyud nga nasayop ta.

bisan unsaon nako ug basa rex- slow, fast, binayot or tiniguwang,, medyo foul gyud gamay.

besides, ang kada usa naay different dream. you may want a good house and a sports car. others just motorcycle or just a bike AND A SIMPLE HOUSE.

" our country is down but not out". i dont think so. pero mao nay imong huna-huna so bijaan na lamang kay down na.
" IF YOU CAN COME OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND NEVER COMEBACK OR BE BACK JUST TO VISIT, DO IT".

to haammmeerr: no comment.tin can.

hi rex, its good to hear you again!

first, i would like to correct my statement, its "our country is down but not out!" its a typo error. c'mon if you're trailing my comments you can sense that.

second, i think its better to post your statement below for you to see it your self, its:

"IF YOU CAN COME OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND NEVER COME BACK OR BE BACK JUST TO VISIT, DO IT. It is time to wake up that is the only way to make YOUR dream to come true."

c'mon rex you cannot fool us by merely juggling your statement. the content of your statement is crystal clear to us. sorry rex, we cannot just accept your idea, it's entirely, completely, absolutely "super ridiculous"!

back in my elem. school, i used to admire you being a person. i thought you're so cool. a municipal engineer, a son of my teacher & principal. a brother of jojok, whom i admire also. i never thought, and really beyond my imagination that your outward profile is exactly the opposite of your inward being! i never knew you being this arrogant. it maybe sound personal but im just totally disappointed! what is unacceptable is that, unknowingly, you are trying to influence your townsfolk with your arrogance.

for you disgusto, please dont give up. we need to volunteer rather than ask a volunteer. i believe, rising again is everybody's business.

we may differ in our ideas, the manner of how we express our thoughs, but the important i guess is the content of our hearts.

mabuhay pa rin ang pinoy!

i love reading your comments and it shows different sentiments. i was tempted to join the discussions before but i opted not because i know nobody wins. i just love reading it. not until i read anonymous 1:07. who ever you are, opinions are just opinions. calling a person arrogant is a personal attack and by hiding your identity you are a coward. you even touch the past. all i know in your high school time my cousin was the valedictorian, the best in your class and it sounds there is an envy from you since those days. and your hypocrite to say it's not the best option because you are keep on going back here in the mid-east. dili lalim dire pero nganong mobalik pa man ka? it's not the only option but it is your best option. accept it. my cousin has every right to say that because what he said is based on his own experience and not yours. your case and mine is different because we are just contract workers. so we have to go home after our contracts. and spend our money the way we want to. then reapply again. been there than that.
but let me share with you what i know. i agree to most of you that not all who went to work abroad became succesfull.
i been thinking of this many, many times and based on my personal experience of having many fiiipinos under my watch in the company i worked with. and i remember the song MUNTIK NANG MAABOT ANG LANGIT. it is true to many because after they have the rare opportunity, giusikan lang.
once they have the money they are into GAMBLING. that's number one vice of pinoys here. families left spent money back home like wa nay ugma. my line supervisor maintained two families. one in manila and one in his hometown. they forget there's always an end. by saying this, i would point out that personal responsibility is the key to success whether we are working back home or abroad. it is our own decision also to look for a brighter future. either in our homeland or in a foreign land. people will give their suggestions. you can take it or leave it. don't be offended just because you can't do it for you have no means or you don't like it.
many of us here in the mid-east are applying for canada. i accepted my fate when my application was turned down. but i try not to act like (let me borrow this words) i'm sour graping. my dream was shuttered at what point but i don't hate that nation just because. if you have no chance of working abroad at this time it's not the end. if you don't like going abroad, don't say it's not good. because i was like that. when my family's business was down it was my only option. so ako gikaon ako gipanulti before.

****You have changed a lot rex. your arrogance when we were in highschool has multiplied. anyway, congrats for being rich already.
Anonymous 1:07 AM

I don't know how you multiply "arrogance" What I know about arrogance is:...One is rooted in a belief in one's own moral superiority.... The other is rooted in an inability to recognize ambiguity as a fact of the world rather than as a failure of the intellect.

All of us know that the country is sinking and nobody recognized that...DOES IT belong to the second meaning of arrogance or just simply a failure of intellect?

Someone called me an arrogant that means he is superior than me morally so he belongs to the first meaning!!!

I am not rich yet but thats one of my dream so don't congratulate me... not yet.. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I STRIKE LOTTO HERE!!!

TO: Nadisgusto I WON'T VOLUNTEER thats the reason I am here outside the country but in my own way helps the country afloat through my remittances every month hoping and not dreaming that the folks left behind will recognize the facts.

DO YOU THINK THOSE PEOPLE WHO WANTS TO STAY ARE SLEEPING?

"it is time to wake up that is the only way to make your dream come true".

after waking up, what will the FILIPINOS WHO ARE IN THE PHIL DO, GO SOMEWHERE TO MAKE THEIR DREAM COME TRUE?

rex, i was trying my best to understand and review your lines. those who reacted,(kababayan nimo or not) had their points also. pls read it again and again.

to llamera-dubai:
what can you comment about your cousin's first posting? basin duna sad kay ika "suggest for the Filipinos that is still in the phil".

been here for so long, not yet very rich, but comfortable and happy. im about to retire and very excited to go home for good.

pinoy ang tinood lajo ra gajod. dako ang kalainan sa pinas ug amerika. bisan unsa nato kalisod diha wa man tay mapaabot sa gobyerno. kayod aron makakaon. dire sa u.s. ug displaced ka sa imo work, puwede ka mo-avail ug unemployment benefits. $200-$300 a month imo madawat. diha louy gyud. karon nga lisod ang economy (?) dire, tanan americans ug legal residents makadawat ug tax rebates. kwarta. $600 for every couple plus $300 every child. way may perfect governement no pero lajo ra gajod lagi. mga pulitiko (i don't like politicians) dire mo-resign ug ma-involve ug scandal. diha murag kumi. pilit to death. hehehehe. mao kadaghanan mo-bilib. way filipino time dire. always on-time. ug dili ma-on-time, aware ang mga tawo sa reason.

I agree with you somewhere in texas... over here the government will give those displaced $350 fortnight ($700 a month), child allowance of $750/month and parenting allowance of $1600 per month is you have smaller kids. The government will pay half of your tuition when you decide to study and a loan if you like to and thats payable when able/ or when you get a job. Although health care is not as good as we want to be but you can swipe your medicare card you don't need to pay with your own money.

****DO YOU THINK THOSE PEOPLE WHO WANTS TO STAY ARE SLEEPING?

Some of them is awake and prosper in staying the country!!!! no argument with that!!! the question is WHY DID THEY PROSPER? WHAT DID THEY DO WHEN THEY WOKE UP?

*****to llamera-dubai:

It is unfortunate that we are no longer little children that someone will teach you or tell you what to do and even suggestions and opinions are not heared sometimes of most of the time!!!Or been receive negatively.

Maybe that's what you do when you woke up you leave the country (i don't know your reason but that's what in my case thats what I did)

You're about to retire good for you. I presume you got what you dreamed of. Going home for good is your decision and yours alone no one will argue with that. My question is: in your going back to Philippines are you going to renounce your American Citizenship? If you do I SALUTE YOU!! If not????? maybe there are some motives!! maybe what you earn through pension when you retire is not enough in Hawaii so you think of going back to the Philippines and live like King? I suppose that is one of your dreams!!!

i was not here because i wanted to. my parents brought me here long time ago. i work and live like an american, but my heart is forever a pinoy.
soon im going home to make my dreams come true. to work in pinas and help the country, my little province in my own little way. it may not be a good idea for you, but the best for me.

im not after any pension mr.rex, coz i dont need it and im going home coz my country needs me.

i hope someday you will remember your comments and postings.

My apologies for being blunt in those questions Mr. Hawaiian blend. I saw that here, Australians with Filipino decency been here since birth and when they retired, went back to the Philippines, with motives that I mentioned. They normally fly to Australia to collect the pension and back to the Philippines. They said they are Filipinos but technically they are not!!! they are holding Australian Passports.

I don't question when you said "Pinoy at heart" I feel the same... the only difference between you and me is I AM STILL A FILIPINO, HOLDING A PHILIPPINE PASSPORT. It could have been better if you renounce your American Citizenship to make your cause as white as snow!!!

I don't think you fail with that dream!!! just keep asking WHAT DO WE DO NEXT? but if you do, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!there are people to welcome to that club!!! I will remember of my opions and keep on reviewing it...

TO: Llamera in Dubai:
Gaw, I applied three times as Permanent Resident in Singapore and was denied three times. I spent considerable sum to apply in Canada twice but was denied. Just keep on trying IT WILL COME!!! Good luck

To those people who are looking to that avenue( going overseas) Middle east is just temporary... I don't think the mindset of the those countries are as open as the others.. Its up to you to seek citizenship or permanent residency on those countries... but if not.. its just temporary.....

Anonymous said...

hawaiian blend, there's no general rule for this i think. the country needs doctors, teachers and other professionals. but if we focus on people who are struggling everyday (majority of the filipinos), going to other country could be the best option. not the only option but the best option to many. filipino workers are underpaid. we have obligation to our country but we have mouths to feed too. childrens future to look for and retirements to plan. i believe that retirement is planned not dreamed. because of this topic i asked our OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH NURSE if she feel guilty by leaving the country and work here in dubai. her response was: "thousands of nurses graduate every
year and few job openings are waiting. by leaving, i give one jobless nurse a hope for living back home." then i asked her again, is this the only way to realize your dream? she said, "not only my dream but also my family, my parents, my relatives and my siblling's dreams." by coming here in dubai, she became and instant breadwinner of the entire clan.
about my cousins posting, I THINK WE WILL LEARN A LITTLE ENGLISH HERE. BY THE WAY NOT ALL PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE STATES ARE GOOD IN ENGLISH GRAMMAR EVEN AMERICAN THEMSELVES.
1. first he said WHAT CAN I SUGGEST. a suggestion can be solicited or unsolicited. you can take it or leave it. is it clear?
2. the suggestion is conditional. IF.
3. the suggestion is not one directional. NEVER COME BACK OR, I REPEAT OR, BE BACK TO VISIT. i think your family belongs to the later. i'm sure you became citizens there so VISIT is the best description of you trips going to the philippines. NOT GOING HOME.
my suggestion? SIMILAR. because it is also what i'm presently doing, i belief it is. BIAS from different sides is normal because we have different experiences. EVEN BY SAYING THAT IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT THAT YOU ARE IN THE STATES CONTRADICTS YOUR PARENTS POINT OF VIEW. I MAYBE WRONG BUT THAT'S WHAT I BELIEVED. IF YOU HAVE REGRETS THAT YOU ARE THERE I THINK YOUR PARENTS WHO BROUGHT YOU THERE THINKS THE OTHER WAY. BECAUSE DURING THAT TIME I'M SURE YOUR PARENTS MAKE THAT DECISION DURING THAT TIME BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED IT WAS THE RIGHT WAY. same thing with me. i wish i could bring my family here in dubai.
our perspective on this differs because you did not experience what we experience. i grow up in a third world country, you grow up in a country MANY considered the land of milk and honey.

Of course you are awake decs-dinagat you achieve what you dreamt!!!by putting your plans into action...study, graduate, apply for the job you love and work hard. NO QUESTION AND ARGUMENT ABOUT THAT SIR!!!

We are not talking about success here... as long as you live those things are just achievement...its not success yet.... THATS MY OPINION!!!
