News: High Court Voids Law on Dinagat Province

The Supreme Court, by a vote of 9-6 Thursday, nullified the law creating the province of Dinagat Islands and voided the election of its officials.

In a decision penned by Justice Diosdado Peralta, the court en banc said that Dinagat Islands had a land area of only 802.12 sq. km, short of the requirement of 2,000 sq. km.

The court said that Dinagat, with only 106,951 residents, did not meet the population requirement of not less than 250,000 inhabitants. More...

Tinuod jud tawon... kay nagpataka ra man ni cla nga kadaghan man diay dili ma meet nga requirements. Kulang sa population ug land area.
