Province of Dinagat Island - Yes or No and Why?

Continued discussion from ‘Creation of the New Province? From what I’ve learned from the previous discussion the trend was that most Lumad (native dinagatnon) tends to vote No to the separation due to peace and order concerns in the Island. A PBMA voter is expected to vote Yes. Mainland and Siargao Island voters and politicians were inclined to vote Yes since they don't favor with the too political biased PBMA Dinagat. And the Catholic Church runs a petition against the separation of the Island.

Let us make this a fair discussion. Please answer Yes or No and Why? And thanks for all of your comments.

NO - If Dinagat Island becomes a province then the next thing that will happen is Siargao also will move to become a province. What will happen to Surigao is like the town of Dinagat (who is the mother of most of the town in the Island) now becomes the smallest land area.

YES- never mine Mat- if SIargao also wanted to make their place into province then they work it. Congress, Senate, and the president will do the rest. if they are in favor so your nothing to do.................
As it is said everybody needs development so if they also think it so, very good okey. everything is possible if you work for it.

There will be then a competence afterwards. Let us see who is the best among the three. I think we DINAGAT PROVINCE.

Yes, Dinagat Province cannot afford to have no hospital. This will save the hospital in Albor. And for me Yes will win the election. I'll vote for the winner.

Yes for a better future to all, i would say.....but if chosen officials are corrupt, there's no progress ahead of us. It's all gonna end up to POVERTY. There's no way of uplifting our way of living at all. So be wise enough to vote. If you think that the goal of the present official is to make it a better way of life, then go vote YES.

NO - Dinagat province would never have a fair election from now onwards. It would always be their bet whether deserving candidates or not for they outnumbered the lumads and they have solid votes. And its scary living with these odd looking strangers with rings on their fingers. have you seen the movie gremlins? its that scary...it came good at first but when they multiplied in number, they get terrible, and you cant say who is the good one anymore...They invade our lands, our schools, and then now the politics...just like alien invision...

YES - For a Change and Prosperity! a chance to develop our place and not by waiting the share from the mother Province (SdN)!!!

Yes, I don't want Surigao to have a Governor again that is from SanJose. Would you? Let them go and have their own.

Yes for the separation. Diversity is much better. Like America, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, they all welcome diversity because diversity is good for the country. Scared with Singsingan is like racial discremenation. Like if you're scared with black people, from people of color. We are all thesame and equal! Diversity makes our new province unique.

I should fear the PBMA? Why I should fear the challenge? kaya YES NA TAYO!!!!

naunsa man mo diha do gajamajama lang mo diha. Si Glenda will surely share the power to all the towns of Dinagat, mark my words....Grabe man gyud ninyong hadluka sa mga bros and sis nato sa pbma!!!! mga Tol the professionals will do something to balance the power, remember DO! dinagat is not a country ruled by pbma!!!! An AM and FM radio will be put up to check the governance of this island if ever the YES will prevail. So vote YES na Do, Putla na ng inyong taas nga ikog(tail) sa kahadlok! LOL....
BTW Im for YES!

what kind of developments? that's the question. please think it over and over again. look at the dark side and you will realize that voting YES is not the road to development. look at the issues carefully.
HOSPITAL IN LIBJO? provincehood is not the answer. the problem started when pimentel authored the local government code that eventually became a law. it's now the local governments responsibility to make it functional instead of the national government. to correct this is to amend the law.
DINAGAT WILL HAVE IT'S OWN MONEY TO USE FOR PROJECTS - IRA depends on how much the province will earn in taxes. ug gamay ra gamay ra sad kag bahin. I still believe that the total income of surigao del norte divided by 3 (DI, SI & mainland) is still bigger than DI's income. and since a new province will have new employees, much of it's money will go to salaries only.
SAME LEADERS. if same people will lead DI then there's no way we prosper. at present set up, they have all means to make developments in the island. the congresswoman is from DI. asa may dako niya nga project sa Libjo nga gikuha sa POrk niya? high schools were budgeted nationally for deped is still under the national government.
ELECTIONS. there will never be fair elections. for a lot of them are not following their consciece but of what theirs leaders tell them to do. ang mga lumad sad nga opisyal mura na tag ibaligya ana aron kapit gihapon sila sa ila puwesto.
i'll vote for NO for i don't want to take chances. i want to decide with practical reasons.
BAHALAG SAGING BASTA LOVING nga panghunahuna is not a good option to follow. it's not for the good of the next generation.

Yes, is the answer. Ang Province of Dinagat Island dili pwede nga walay hospital. Kay requirement na. So dili maclose ang hospital.

MAURA MAN GIHAPON KAY MADAAOG MAN A\NG yes

diversity? this case is different from the u.s., canada, or even cebu and manila where people are free to choose candidates in the elections. in dinagat, the number of people who just follow their leaders on who is to vote is now almost the majority. meaning there's a group who will change the course of history. to where? i don't know. elections will no longer be in an equal playing field.
there's no racial discremination here. in foreign countries, those discrimanated are the minorities. when you disrimanate then you are not scared. here we are scared of them.
diversity is good when you share your ideas, talent and resources. but if it's about belief, ideology and control, it's chaotic.

congressmen wants to change the constitution because of selfish interests. they can stay in power as long as they want compared to the present form of government. there ara talks about NOEL (no elections) next year.
in dinagat, they want it separated from surigao del norte as a new provinces. this is what they want:
if they will run for governer they have the advantage compared to the present set-up. when we choose our congressman, it's really a good fight when people from the two islands vote during the elections. but when dinagat will become a province? there will be mismatches in the elections. same group of people magpuli-puli ug dumala sa isla sa dinagat.

maajo ra no aron dili magdako an ulo sa mga ?????? you know, aron dili maghari.

Diversity - is free to choose. what do you think of Iglesya ni Cristo?
They also have an official ballot to follow during election. Otherwise tiwalag sad ka. Pag tawagon kag "kamanting" that is discrimenation. In Libjo for example, Singsingan
is still minorities. Same as you call me Negro. You are not playing fair to all your residents. This is a free country kung allowed nako moboto sa Dinagat that means taga
Dinagat na ko. Ajaw na tungod kay Singsingan ko. We all have different belief, ideology but that is not to be used as a tool to control. That is what Catholic Church is doing.
I know singsingan naa say bad practice.

Anonymous said...

DIVERSITY means variety, assortment, mixture, multiplicity, range. free to choose means FREEDOM! THE TWO ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
iglesia ni cristo and the roman catholic also endorses candidates. if you're an INC member tiwalag ka ug magpakita ka nga supak. pero sekreto man ang balota. ug PBMA ka PATAY KA UG MOSUPAK.

Anonymous said...

NO. they all have the means of improving the island at the present set-up. for example: the congresswoman has a P65 million pork barrel. if she allocated even 1 million each for the hospitals of libjo and loreto annually, dako na na ug tabang. pero nganong wala man? represented man sad ta sa sangguniang panlalawigan kay daghan man board member sa dinagat.
and i'm sure the same people will run dinagat if yes will win. maura gihapoy mahitabo.

Anonymous said...

Yes - ang problema nimo is no one cares to vote for NO. Only those that vote YES cares to vote. Wala man ni kwartahay. We will see the result today.

The term "diversity" has no fixed definition upon which sociologists can agree. In "Politics" context it could be more like eugenics, which is quite different and potentially the opposite of Affirmative Action. Check this site for more information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diversity#Politics

basaha ug tarong :
The neutrality and factual accuracy of this section is disputed.
This article or section does not cite its references or sources.
maoy imo gi-quote ang way klaro. basaha ang nauna nga gisuwat s wikipedia.

Diversity is a form of individualism, unique characteristics, beliefs and values. Amongst humans, particularly in a social context, the term diversity refers to the presence in one population of a (wide) variety of

Cultures,
Ethnic groups
Languages
Generational diversity
Physical features, especially if they are recognized by members of that population to constitute characteristics of a race - (see also human variability)
Socio-economic backgrounds
Opinions
Religious beliefs
Sexuality
Gender identity
Neurology

mao lagi mo-vote ug YES kay dili kasabot. dali ra mailad.

Diverse gani, we have all kinds of people sa Dinagat. And different kind of views. Naa mi PBMA which makes us more diverse, people from around the country from Negros, Samar Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Mindanao, Luzon all over. We have most of the churches, Catholics, INC, saki ni Jehuva, UCCP, etc. Where can you find a place in the Philippines as diverse as Dinagat aside from major metropolitans? We are unique, we have our own characteristics, beliefs and values. Even unique from mainland Surigao and Siargao. We have all kinds of languages in the Island, from Hibusong who speaks waray2x, to Loreto who's more of Bohol/Leyte, Cagdianao with more on Surigao and San Jose who's is Philippines put together. Maybe i'm wrong when i point Diversity - is free to choose. But diversity has no fixed defination diba..that means i can even make my own defination.

Anonymous said...

you can make other definitions but it will be completely wrong. webster's is globally accepted and for me other than that is not right.
example: salvage is to save. but in the philippines it is killing!
wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

voting for YES or NO?it doesn't make sense...somebody will blame for YES vote because they think about the corruption or interest or else they want NO vote...bakit pa pagtalonan ito?some one says if there is 65million pork barrel budget bakit nman hindi makadonate ng 1 million sa hospital?yung ang tanong..?EH bakit din ba ang surigao umasinso b?until now walang improvement many jobless people...naghihirap talaga...walng mga project na maganda para sa mga tao na nangangailangan ng work...sabi nila maraming project ang DPWH (Daghan Proyekto Walay Hinungdan)tinood bitaw...very slow ang progression ng surigao unlike sa cebu...cebu is started from small...bakit nagyon progressive sila...not because of the vote but because of the good leader...surigao is one of the most corruption...sino pa ba ang mga leader ngayon na until now wla rin nangyari...11 mindanao business conference dito hini held...pero wala pa ring asenso...what happen to the investors?umatras kasi corrupt....kaya walang sisihan lahat ng leader dito or malalaking poltikong tao ay corrupt....ma dinagat man or surigao...

Dinagat is now a province! I maybe late to express my opinion regarding this issue but somehow reading the comments posted here, I can't help but react..bout the 'diversity issue', I think that Dinagat is really a unique place where different people from all walks of life-of different beliefs, races, status come and spend vacation or even live in the island..as for the PBMA issue, I do think that these people are peace-loving and law-abiding individuals..everytime I would spend vacation in this island, I enjoy the sceneries and the peaceful environment of Dinagat..and I haven't heard of any laws or the like that when a PBMA member doesn't follow what their leaders tell them to vote, they will be killed..I guess that's way too brutal! also, do you have any proof to testify your accusations? though they have leaders of their own, they are still human beings-born to be uniquely different from all creatures because of the wisdom we have..this means that we still have our own freedom to choose what we want..though there may be people around us, telling us what to do, it is still up to us whether we will follow them or not!
Furthermore, let's face reality! there is no such thing as 'perfect' or a 'utopia' kind of society..which means that there exist no government that doesn't have corrupt leaders..do you have any in mind?
Also, real progress and development doesn't happen overnight..I must say that even here in the city where I live, though it is already a metropolitan city, the developments and renovations of government properties such as highways, hospitals, buildings, etc. are minimal and slow..to add up, the services of the different government offices are not very good..
That's why reality really hurts!
God Bless!

Ajaw n pangutana kun unu na san jose gajod an centro nan probinsiya ky klaro sa RA 9355 Section 3, that the seat of provincial government and capital town of the newly-created province (dinagat Islands), is an SAN JOSE.Dapat gani na kuhaon an Division Office s dinagat ug ibalhin s san jose kay it is an express provision of RA 9355 otherwise known as the Dinagat Law n san jose an seat of provincial govenment. How could a certain town be considered the seat of provincial government if one of the most important public office (Division office) is located outside of san jose? Legally speaking, pursuant to RA 9355, it is impliedly provided, thus, that all the provincial offices must be located in the capital town which is san jose. No ifs, no buts.. jad2 dapat s san jose an tanan. One-stop shop and tumong ng dinagat law kun imo sabton.
